Duty of Candour
Here at SKM Aesthetics we are dedicated in providing safe and an exceptional quality of care to all our clients. We endeavour to reflect on every client experience, good or bad, to ensure continual learning and improvements in all aspects of our care.
The Duty of Candour which came into place on the 1st of April 2018 http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ssi/2018/57/made/data.pdf, requires all health care providers to make certain that they are always honest, transparent and provide appropriate support when unforeseen or accidental injury occurs.
Duty of Candour Obligations for all Clinicians in the Event of any Incident
Full transparency about the situation and genuine apology
Full review of the situation, ensuring yourself or appropriate person/body is involved in this process
Clinician to demonstrate learning outcomes and how appropriate actions have been taken to prevent this reoccurring in the future
Procedure to Follow
In the event that you have experienced any untoward event (harm or death) that is unrelated to any on going medical issue that would have otherwise occurred regardless, then the Duty of Candour comes into play.
An outside health professional, not related to your care will review the case and decide if the duty of candour procedure should be followed.
Notification, Correspondence and Meeting
We will directly be in contact with you to offer our findings, support and to sincerely apologise.
A meeting face to face will take place at the Escape Medispa to address any concerns/answer questions and to discuss next steps.
Incident Review and Report
A full written report will be drawn up which outlines the findings, learning and procedures put in place to prevent reoccurrence.
Annual Report
Whilst we strive to avoid any such incidences there will be an annual report issued should any unintended situations occur.
